Learn to Skate and Introduction to hockey
Where: Commander Park Arena

When: One session per week from October to April
(Total of 20/22 sessions)
Saturday Morning 10.00 am to 1.00 pm
45 minutes each session
Maximum 30 skaters per session
Cost: $200.00
The Program:
Developed originally as an introduction to a skating program to teach balance, co-ordination, confidence, and instill fun and the sense of accomplishment with skill development.
Tasks:
· Getting dressed in full hockey equipment and how to care for it.
· Exercises in full equipment to get used to the added weight
· Teach various balance and skating drills geared to the new skater
· How to fall down and get back up
· How to hold the hockey stick and shoot the puck
· Taking turns following instructions, team cheers
· Eventually, passing drills, puck control, obstacle courses
· Season end: exhibition games for those who are ready
· Having fun is the primary requirement
Instructors: Parents are permitted during the initial stages to help the child get comfortable in their new surroundings.
Instructors and assistants only after that.
Volunteers are welcome.
Features: We supply sweater and socks
Treats at the end of each session
Christmas visit by Santa with a gift for each skater
Year-end pizza party and trophy for each skater
